Description
The Cross Medical & Surgical Huber needle is for Gastric band access port adjustment. The Huber needle is composed of a luer lock hub and a straight canula with a Huber beveled tip.
This Huber needle is designed to penetrate the access port for insertion or removal of saline into the prosthesis. The canula design allows optimal port access limiting the potential to damage the access port and minimizing patient discomfort during the adjustment.
The type, diameter and bevel shape of needle used for Gastric band adjustments are very important in minimizing the potential damage that may be caused to the prosthesis from the adjustments. Needles without a suitable bevel may have a punch effect on the septum that could cause leakage and potential breakdown of the silicone port leading to obstruction of the catheter. The Cross Medical & Surgical Huber needles aim to eliminate this problem.
THE CANULA
The Cross Medical & Surgical Huber needle canulas are made of 304 stainless steel and they have a tangential bevel. Our manufacturers have selected the stainless steel used to make canulas because of its surgical quality and its high corrosion resistance.
THE HUB
The Cross Medical & Surgical Huber needles are composed of a translucent polypropylene Luer Lock hub. These very strong materials grant a very high resistance.
The hubs are coloured according to ISO 6009 standard. The 6% Luer Lock connector permits the Luer Lock accessories use allowing a better watertightness and avoiding the disconnection.
THE PROTECTOR TUBE
All our Huber needles have a transparent polypropylene sterility protector tube. This tube protects the needle bevel.
THE PEEL AWAY SACHET
The Cross Medical and Surgical Huber needles are packaged in individual sachets. They are composed of two sheets, which are glued.
The transparent upper sheet is made of medical quality components. It permits a quick identification of the contents.
The opaque lower sheet is very resistant and adapted to the ethylene oxide sterilisation.
